Just wanted to share my road encounter with 2 inconsiderate cyclist yesterday late morning.
I was driving along Mountbatten road (near SingHoe Hotel) towards Katong when I saw 2 cyclists cycling side-by-side along the road in the same direction. They appears to be chatting and as the traffic was light but there were other cars on the other lane (2-lane road), I sounded my horn as they were occupying more than half of my lane space. I managed to drive past safely but one of the cyclists caught up with my car and steer himself in front of my car. It was a very dangerous act to do so. I switched my lane and drove past him. When I slow down and stopped at the next traffic light, he actually cycle betweens cars and stopped beside my car shouting f*** words.
If I was not calm when he challenged me to come out of my car, a fight may have happened. I picked up my phone pretending to call and seeing it, he cycled off shouting some more f*** words.
I think cyclists have a lot to learn to cycle safely on the road. He is actually risking his life and also other road users by riding side-by-side and going in between cars dangerously. And instead of showing gratitude, he actually wanted to pick a fight. He may have the attitude that he can do what he likes as if he owns the road.
After this encounter, I am now more careful when I sees a cyclist. This is a good lesson for me but I do hope that cyclist also exercise safe cycling instead of expecting other road users to accommodate their bad habits or behaviors.
