Guys, Just like to check with you all on the below queries as I have found out the root to my car air-con problem. 1) Temperature Setting for your car air-con (More on Hot or Cold Zone) 2) Fan Speed (Manual setting or Auto) Thanks for your feedback.  |

1) 0 or 1 passenger, air-con temp setting at 25 degC, 2 or more set to 23 degC
2) 0 or 1 passenger, fan speed manual usually set at 1, if during lunch time then increased to 2, if 2 or more passenger, manual fan setting at 3 or 4 initially then reduced back to 2 once ambient turn cool.

Do you encounter some bad smell from air-con when you step hard on accelerator to overtake? I was told that it is normal to have some smell for that split second when you step hard on accelerator. |

Bro you use auto, means everytime you start your car your fan blow full blast la.
No need to like dat la. Our Nissan air con so good and cold.
Like me, when I start my car in the morning the temp is at 24 and 1 fan only. Only when hot afternoon sun, when start I put 20 and 2 fan. After less than 5 mins already I turn down to 23 and 1 fan.

Guys,
Just to share some information I gather from one air-con specialist in Woodlands.
It is best to put your air-con temperature knob to the "Max Cold" setting and you only control the fan speed between 1-3.
Do not put to "Auto" mode and increase the temperature as that is only to control the vents between the Hot air from heater core and Cold air from Evaporator core.
At certain times, there will be possibility of the evaporator core freezing up due to excess air-con gas pumped from the Compressor as the sensor will tell the Air-con Control Module that the interior cabin temperature is not cold.
By putting to Max Cold and manual fan speed will prevent the evaporator from frozen up.
Just my sharing.

1) Air-con temp setting always at 22.5 degC. Never change since day 1. 2) Fan speed manual usually set at 1 or 2. d**n fan speed design makes me always switch 1 or 2 once awhile as (1) after sometime feeling warm, (2) after sometimes feeling cold ... due to ... (1) very slow speed  (2) high speed  (3) turbo speed  (4) turbo + supercharge speed  |

Dear all,
Kindly allow me to share. Do advise newbie me if not correct.
If my memory's still intact, for common N16's case, when the aircon compressor is turned on, whether more fuel is consumed when the temperature slider/knob/push-button is set to a colder temp, or vice versa for less-colder temp. Becos the tcompressor is already operating. The slider only perhaps adjusted/direct the amount of cold intake to the blower.
By setting to auto (or auto climate), it merely variably controls the fan speed (blower). In-cabin climate sensing is via the sensor near the windscreen, infront of the left passenger. The frequency of higher fan speed does induce loading slightly, but it's considered pretty minute. Perhaps at much colder temp, the compressor might be working harder thus an induced "electrical loading", slight less torque output.
Kicking in/out (approx 75%) of compressor is via the throttle control. Under high revs, the compressor is already temporary 'partially deactivated', thou not fully. For smaller bread&butter rides like 1600cc and below, this aircon loading is considered noticeable, unlike rides with higher engine capacity.
Setting at lower cooler setting (~23-degrees) decreases the air-con foul smell. Once a while, during the wee hours of the night, wind down the window, set to the hottest on the thermostat, for 5~10 min. Tis helps to reduce moist in the cooling duct system, thus reducing aircon pungent smells.
Working concept differ from household/office air-con system where the AC power supply is mostly more stable.

i dun think so.. comparing with 1.6lit and 1.8lit, turning off the aircon really makes a diff for 1.6lit..

But if you were turn off the "AC" button 'off', while the blower is still operating/blowing, which means the compressor(condenser) is not working, no cold, you should feel a sudden regain in pull. Typically as much as near 12~15%. The Air-con is quite draggy in N16's case.
My buddies call this mode - NOS!

through my understanding of what they say... yes turning off air-con is better and turning to higher degree makes no differences as the air-con is still on and consuming power... hehe
